Near Peel Castle by the harbour there is an area which, back in the day, the fish would have been gutted and packed into barrels full of salt. Today it is a place where old fishing nets go to die.
My painting for February was inspired by these old nets, and the fascinating colours and textures. This month we had a Bible passage about the way that Simon Peter was called by Jesus to leave his nets behind and follow. And there are also Bible passages that talk about other things we have to leave behind, as followers: judgmentalism, retribution, grudges. All these, like fishing nets, are bad news for whatever gets caught up in them.
When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed him.
